44 million liters of water saved with Vestel technologies in the last year

Contributing to the protection of water resources for a sustainable future, Vestel shared the water savings data obtained from its smart white goods with the public on the occasion of World Water Day

Thanks to the water-saving programs and smart systems preferred by its users, Vestel has saved approximately 44 million liters of water in the last year. This amount is equal to approximately 17.5 Olympic swimming pools.

According to United Nations data, billions of people worldwide experience difficulties accessing safe water. Therefore, technologies providing water efficiency are seen as one of the most critical tools for a sustainable future. With this approach, Vestel continues to contribute to the protection of water resources with its products and technologies. The data it shared on the occasion of World Water Day reveals that Vestel’s smart technologies offer significant gains in water efficiency.

In her statement made for March 22 World Water Day, Vestel Global Marketing & Domestic Sales General Manager Duygu Badem Uylukçuoğlu said:

“We see the protection of water resources not just as an environmental necessity, but as our debt to future generations and a common responsibility that cannot be postponed. In line with the Smart Life 2030 vision of Zorlu Group, under whose umbrella we operate, we consider environmental and social impact as a natural component of our business. While placing sustainability at the center of all our operations, we strive to maximize water and energy efficiency not only in our production processes but also during the usage phase of our products. By actively including our consumers as stakeholders in the sustainability journey with the transformative power of technology, and with our smart solutions that optimize resource usage, we aim to collectively build a culture of living in harmony with nature.

The data we share clearly reveals the concrete impacts of this technology-driven vision. Thanks to the high efficiency provided by our smart devices, we achieved approximately 44 million liters of water savings in the last year alone. This figure corresponds to the volume of 17.5 Olympic swimming pools. While water consumption in new generation washing machines and dishwashers has decreased by 27.7 percent compared to the average consumption of previous generation Vestel models, we are developing technologies that contribute to the more efficient use of water with innovations such as the ‘Eco’ program and ‘automatic load detection.’

In particular, preventing 2.5 million liters of water consumption solely through the conscious preference of our users for the ‘Eco’ program reveals what a significant impact can be created for our world when technology and consumer awareness behavior are combined.”

Water savings equivalent to 17.5 Olympic swimming pools

According to the data shared by Vestel, thanks to the efficiency provided by smart devices, a total of approximately 44 million liters of water was saved over the last year. The breakdown is as follows:

  • Dishwashers: ~24 million liters saved
  • Washing Machines: ~20 million liters saved

This amount corresponds to a water volume equal to 17.5 Olympic swimming pools. Vestel contributes to sustainable resource use with its products featuring high energy and water efficiency, smart program options, and technologies that increase user awareness. The data shared for World Water Day demonstrates the important role technology can play in protecting natural resources when used correctly.

The new generation transformation continues

Replacing older generation dishwashers and washing machines with Vestel’s state-of-the-art models has reduced users' average water consumption by 27.7 percent, showing that washing appliances have become much more efficient.

The difference in water consumption between the 'Eco' program and standard programs in Vestel smart products also reaches remarkable levels:

  • Dishwashers: 20 percent less water used when the 'Eco' program is preferred over standard programs.
  • Washing Machines: 39 percent less water used with the 'Eco' program.

2.5 million liters of water consumption prevented with the ‘Eco’ program

According to data obtained from Vestel’s smart devices regarding user preferences, over the past year, consumers opted for the ‘Eco’ program:

  • 478,658 times in dishwashers
  • 96,895 times in washing machines

Users who chose the ‘Eco’ program instead of more intensive cycles prevented the consumption of approximately 2.5 million liters of water. The resulting data reveals the concrete impact of Vestel users' conscious choices.

Ending unnecessary consumption with automatic load detection

The ‘automatic load detection’ technology found in Vestel washing machines is a crucial feature that helps reduce unnecessary water consumption.

  • In the 'Eco' program: 43 percent water savings are achieved when a half load is detected instead of a full load, and 55 percent when a quarter load is detected.
  • In the 'Cotton' program: If a half load is detected, 41 percent water savings are achieved compared to full load consumption.

Thanks to this technology, the machines automatically optimize water consumption by analyzing the amount of laundry during the wash.

Vestel aims to contribute to the popularization of a sustainable living culture by carrying out efforts to increase water and energy efficiency with the new generation products it develops.

Editor's Note: The data shared above has been calculated based on the water consumption differences between new and old generation products, taking into account anonymous usage statistics provided by Vestel smart devices, program preference rates, and the calculated amount of water during the production phase.
